Today I went to my friend Raya's house to study. Raya's mom asked me if I wanted to stay for dinner. Raya's mom is from Indonesia. I really wanted to try some Indonesian food. So I said, "Yes, please!" We ate nasi goreng—Indonesian-style fried rice. It is similar to Taiwanese fried rice. But it has a lot more flavor. It comes with a fried egg on top! It was so delicious. I asked Raya's mom for the recipe. Here is what she wrote down for me: Nasi Goreng serving: 4 people Ingredients: • chicken (50 g) • kecap manis (sweet soy sauce) (3 tablespoons) • garlic (2 pieces) • 1 red chili • 1 small onion • cooked white rice (750 g) • shrimp paste (2 teaspoons) • 4 eggs • 2 tomatoes • 1 cucumber • 1 lime Directions: 1. Cut up the chili and garlic. Add to a hot pan. 2. Cut up the onion. Add to the pan. 3. Cut up the chicken into small pieces. Add to the pan. Cook until it turns white. 4. Add the rice, kecap manis, and the shrimp paste. Cook for 2 minutes. 5. Cut up the tomatoes, cucumber, and lime. 6. Fry the eggs. 7.
